Khan died in a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday and lost his battle with a rare form of cancer, his representative said in a statement. He was 54 according to Tribune India.
Just four days ago, the actor "Maqbool," who was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumor in 2018, lost his mother in Jaipur. He was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital's intensive care unit for a colon infection.
"It's saddening that we have to put out the passing news of him this day. Irrfan was a strong man, someone who fought till the very end and inspired everyone who came near him. Having been hit with the news of a rare cancer by lightning in 2018, he took life shortly after as it came and battled the many wars that came with it.
"Surrounded by his friends, his family, for whom he cared most, he left for a house in heaven, truly leaving behind his own legacy. We all pray and we hope he will be at rest. And to resonate and part with his words he said, "As if for the first time I were tasting life, the magical side of it," read the paragraph.
