| Nigerian Governors Forum |
This comes after receiving a briefing from the Lagos, Bauchi, Oyo and Ogun states governors who shared their experiences and lessons from the COVID-19 war.
According to Daily Confidence, a press release issued by Ekiti state's NGF chairman and governor, Kayode Fayemi, at the end of the virtual meeting said only critical services would be approved.
The state governors called for the COVID-19 response to be decentralized, claiming that it is the best opportunity to nibble the spread of the virus in communities.
They also raised serious concerns about the the spread of the virus among health workers and vowed to work with the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) to ensure that health workers are supplied with personal protective equipment (PPE) "adequately" and are "constantly" trained in the use of protective gears.
The chairman of the NGF also briefed the forum on the pandemic situation and cooperation efforts with the federal government, multilateral and bilateral partners, and with the private sector.
The forum held a minute's silence in memory of all Nigerians who lost their lives as a result of coronavirus, especially health workers in the front lines of the epidemic.
