You wake up with a start
Your heart thumping
You are scared
But you also don't know why
You hear footsteps
You grip your covers
Your body shuddering with fear
You are scared
But you also try to know why
You gently come down from the bed
You walk closely to the door
You are scared
But you also want to know why
You open the door gently
You try to peep...
"Happy Birthday!!!"
Voices cry out as you stick out
your head out the door
You smile, laugh and exchange
pleasantries with them......
Until you realize the 'them'
has been dead for a very long time
You are scared
But you exactly know why.
