The Grand Grandmaster (2020)

Dayo Wong Tze-wah is arguably the greatest stand-up comedian in the Cantonese-speaking world. But so far he has struggled to transfer his sharp wit and biting humour to the big screen.

Buoyed by the commercial success of Agent Mr Chan , a 2018 film in which he had a leading role, he is once again going all in for a share of the Hong Kong box office this Lunar New Year.

The grand master Fei Lung lost everything after he got defeated by Chun. To regain his reputation, Fei Lung challenges her to a final fight. Much to his surprise, he gradually falls in love with Chun. Will he be able to win both Chun's heart and the battle at the end?

The Grand Grandmaster (2020)

The Grand Grandmaster, directed and co-written by Wong (and Chung Kai-cheong) and starring him in the title role, has been declared by anti-government protesters to be their holiday movie of choice.

Wong endeared himself to them by explaining in a social media post two weeks ago that he had to sell an apartment to fund the film’s shooting – so he could make it a Hong Kong-only production and bypass China’s censors.
