Facebook ceo Mark Zuckerberg, 36, has become the world's third-largest centibillionaire.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zuckerberg's fortune for the first time has topped $100bn, placing him among the members of the world's centibillionaires' club, after Facebook's shares rose 6 percent on investor optimism over the news that the company plans to launch Instagram Reels, a rival to the Chinese video sharing application TikTok.

Facebook announced Instagram Reels' US rollout after US President Donald Trump banned US companies from dealing with ByteDance and Tencent, TikTok 's Chinese owners, and the WeChat messaging service.

The 36-year-old media magnate has now joined Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Microsoft founder Bill Gates as the only men with a centibillionaire ranking, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index reported.

Mark Zuckerberg, who founded Facebook in 2004 and holds a 13 per cent stake in the firm, received this year about US$ 22 billion.
