The Osun Deputy Governor, Mr. Benedict Alabi, said the state government will continue to enhance the potential for economic sustainability and development in the tourism and culture sector.
Alabi commented on the opening of a one-day workshop on the Osun Culture and Tourism Master Plan organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Osogbo on Thursday.
If the tourism sector could be completely established as expected, the deputy governor said that it had the capacity to turn the state into a tourism haven, with economic benefits and improved living standards for residents.
Alabi noted that the ongoing transformation of key sectors of the state economy was explicitly targeted as areas of comparative cost advantage for agriculture , mining, tourism and culture.
He said, “as a state, we are so much blessed in terms of cultural endowment and other resources, which we can utilize to develop our local economy and sustainable prosperity.
“When this administration came on board, we identified some key sectors of economic potentials that we can develop for our economic advancement, in which tourism is one of them.
“It is, therefore, necessary for you to support our government to actualize our dreams for the economic prosperity of the state through this sector”.
