Launched in 2019, the Womenpreneur Pitch-a-ton Africa was the first women-in-business support initiative of its kind in the industry offered by the Access Bank W Initiative. The program in its maiden edition provided financial grants worth N9Million to the top 5 applicants with a free mini MBA certification for 50 women entrepreneurs in Nigeria.


This it did in conjunction with the International Finance Corporation (IFC, a member of the World Bank Group).


This year, the program is being extended to 8 other African countries where Access Bank’s W initiative has its presence. These countries are


Nigeria,

Ghana,

Rwanda,

Zambia,

Sierra-Leone,

Gambia,

Kenya,

Mozambique and

Congo hence the tag name “Womenpreneur Pitch-A-Ton Africa

The programme is designed as a 3-month period comprising 12 weeks of mini-MBA training in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and pitching sessions to a Pan-African Jury panel where the top one hundred (100) finalists will pitch their businesses, infusing learnings from the mini-MBA and will stand an opportunity to win financial grants and other consolation prizes.”


The 2021 Womenpreneur Pitch-a-ton Africa programme will officially kick off on Monday, June 21st – August 13th, 2021 and will offer financial grants, an exclusive certified capacity building program and business coaching aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs. Interested female entrepreneurs who meet the criteria of having an existing business for at least one year with at least 50% female ownership and between the age range of 18- 45 years are eligible and required to fill an online application.


Requirements

In order to be eligible to apply for the scholarship, applicants must:


Women aged 18-45yrs old

who are; a. Resident in Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Gambia, DR Congo & Kenya 

Own and manage their own business in the above countries c

With businesses registered with their country’s corporate affairs registration bodies


Scholarship Duration and Reward

First prize is N5 million naira/Equivalent in winners’ country currency

Second prize is N2 million naira/ Equivalent in winners’ country currency

Third prize is N1 million naira/ Equivalent in winners’ country currency

Fourth Prizes is N750,000 naira/ Equivalent in winners’ country currency

Note

The Womenpreneur Pitch-a-ton Africa Programme is the first women-in-business support initiative of its kind in the industry


Method of Application

All online applications will be reviewed and screened by independent business experts to five hundred (500) candidates who will be required to send in a sixty-second video pitch for the opportunity to be selected as part of the final top 100 candidates who will benefit from an exclusive and certified Mini-MBA and grant prizes.
