The University of Southern Denmark offers the Danish Government Scholarship – supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science – to certain applicants in recognition of the important investment that overseas students make during their education.


The scholarship consists of two parts: a full tuition fee waiver and a grant, to help cover living costs amounting to DKK 3000 per month before taxes. 


The scholarships are awarded to the best-qualified candidates based on the grade point average of their Bachelor’s degree.

Scholarship Details

The Danish Government Scholarship is granted either as full or partial tuition fee waivers and/or as an amount that covers basic living costs. The University awards the scholarships solely on the basis of academic achievement; thus, financial need is not considered.


Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a non-EU/EEA citizen, apply to one of the following Engineering Master’s programmes in Sønderborg (programme start in autumn) and otherwise have to pay tuition fees:


MSc in Engineering – Mechatronics – both profiles

MSc in Engineering – Electronics (Sønderborg)

The scholarships will be awarded to the best qualified of the eligible applicants. All eligible applicants who are offered a study place will automatically be considered for the scholarship. No separate application is needed.


The Faculty of Engineering has the possibility to award highly qualified applicants for other programmes in Sønderborg for a scholarship as well.


NOTE: If you are eligible to receive the Danish State Grant, you cannot be considered for the scholarship. 


Scholarship Duration and Reward

Required Documents

The scholarships are awarded to the best-qualified candidates based on the grade point average of their Bachelor’s degree.


To be considered for the scholarship all necessary documentation must be available before the application deadline, to make sure that we can process your application.


We need:


Official Bachelor’s transcripts and diploma in English, Danish, Swedish or Norwegian – must include grades and units/credits for each course

Course descriptions for the courses on your transcripts

Proof of English language proficiency

To be considered for the for the Danish Government Scholarship at the University of Southern Denmark, applicants are to apply for admission into an eligible programme of the university for a full-time study programme. All supporting documents must be available before application deadline, to make sure that your applications can be processed appropriately.


The scholarships will be awarded to the best qualified of the eligible applicants. All eligible applicants who are offered a study place will automatically be considered for the scholarship. No separate application is needed.
