The Excellent Minds Initiative (EMI) is now taking entries for its 2022 essay competition from undergraduate students in West African postsecondary institutions. The Excellent Minds Essay Competition has a deadline of May 5, 2022 for submissions.
The Essay Competition of the Excellent Minds Initiative (EMI) is now open for submissions – The Excellent Minds Social and Youth Empowerment Initiative is the driving force behind the competition. It's an annual essay competition for undergraduate students at colleges and universities.

The tournament aims to promote critical thinking, harness ideas, and develop the African youth's innate talents, abilities, gifts, and skills. The Excellent Minds Essay Competition has been held in Nigerian universities over the years. It has generated innovative and high-impact student initiatives and ideas targeted at solving Nigeria's most critical problems since its formal launch.
From this year forward, the competition will be open to university institutions in West Africa, with a focus on regional development challenges. Partnership for Sustainable Development in West Africa is the theme of this year's competition.
Eligibility:
- Open to undergraduate students in West Africa;
- They must be registered in any discipline across tertiary institutions in West Africa.
Competition Prizes:
- First Prize: Apple ipad and a Plaque
- Second Prize: Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and a Plaque
- Third prize: Kindle 6″ Wifi eBook Reader [10th gen] and a Plaque
- The top 5 essays will also be published on EMI’s website for unrestricted access by the online community.

Instructions
Identify and describe some of the biggest difficulties facing West Africa in less than 1000 words, and propose collaborative solutions for West African countries. Their commitments to other African countries should not be harmed as a result of these solutions.
Include page numbers and use a 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font with 1.5-line spacing.
Your cover page and references are not included in the word count.
All submissions must be written in English.
The submission date is May 5, 2022. Semi-finalists on the shortlist will be notified by May 30, 2022.
