Wizkid, Femi Kuti, Burna Boy, and Tems Have All Been Nominated For 2022 Grammy Awards


From Fela Kuti to new generation Afro beat musicians like Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido, the Nigerian Afro beat genre has become a global sensation.

The Grammy Awards Recording Academy revealed the nomination list for the 64th Grammy Awards, which will be held in January 2022, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

The Academy has published the nominations for each of the 86 categories for the 2022 GRAMMY Awards, which were announced earlier this year.

In total, five Nigerians were nominated in various categories. Burna Boy, Tems, Femi, and Made Kuti are among Wizkid's nominees.

Wizkid was nominated for Best Global Music Performance at the Grammys alongside fellow Nigerians Femi Kuti, Burna Boy, and Tems. Angelique Kidjo, a Beninese legend, was also nominated in the same category.

Wizkid's 'Made In Lagos' album has also been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album, with Femi Kuti and Made Kuti's Legacy Plus, Angelique Kidjo's Mother Nature, and Rocky Dawumi's Voice of Bunbon Volume

Tems made her Grammy debut with her collaboration with Wizkid in the category of Best Global Music Performance, which also earned Wizkid a nomination for 'Essence.'
