Barely 72hours after their inauguration, the FAAJI TOBILOBA led Development-Oriented Students Union Executives of the University of Ilorin were present at the official handing over ceremony of the completed projects by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing under the Intervention Programme on Internal roads of Federal Tertiary Institutions.
The 2.75km University of Ilorin to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital(UITH) interlink road rehabilitated being the first commissioned project under the administration was graced by several dignitaries including the Honorable Minister for Works, the Vice Chancellor, University Officials, Traditional rulers and other invited guests.
The Vice Chancellor in his welcoming address thanked the Federal government for the speedy completion of the project which has proven to be pivotal to the movement of staffs and students between the main campus and the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital through the College of Health Sciences. The Vice Chancellor also indulged the Federal government for further assistance in the rehabilitation of more road networks in the University of Ilorin.
Speaking also on the commissioning, the Student Union President, Faji Tobiloba expressed his appreciation to the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing for effecting the rehabilitation of the link road within the campus
The road is critical to both human and vehicular movement and its rehabilitation reduce vehicle maintenance cost, operating cost, and travel time.
He further solicited the support of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing in addressing other pressing issues, especially the link road between University park and Tanke.
