The people of Nigeria made a choice on June 12,1993 and this choice led to the emergence of the late Chief M.K.O Abiola as a worthy leader for the nation.
The June 12 Democracy day celebration is a day where everyone's opinion matters irrespective of diversities before Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babagida annulled it.
The June 12 election is a reflection of what Osun people stand for during the gubernatorial, Presidential and house of assembly elections in Ã’sun state.
This is not a testimony of the past but the reality of the moment in Ã’sun state that led to emergence of Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke as the Governor of Ã’sun State .
Though the current state of democracy still needs to be improved as there are many challenges bedeviling the polity.
Everyone must be involved in the governance by contributing their quota to the development of the Nation and this is when we can have the true democracy.
The National Youth Council of Nigeria Osun State Chapter under the leadership of Com. Ajala Adetunji therefore uses the commemoration of June 12 democracy day as an occasion to return to the true virtues of a truly democratic nation which was what is achieved on June 12, 1993.
In the spirit of June 12, we use the moment of democracy day to appeal to the government to promote electoral justice and process that commands the trust of the people.
We appeal to the government at all levels to respect and protect the institutions of the democratic state by respecting the social contract.
The National Youth Council of Nigeria Osun state employ the government to continue to engage Youth constituents, and ensure a working democracy that all can be proud of.
