Ogunbiyi Dismisses Viral Video Clip, Accuses Adeleke of Political Propaganda

 

The campaign organisation of Akin Ogunbiyi has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media, describing it as manipulated and misleading.

In a statement issued on April 18, 2026, the organisation said:

“Ogunbiyi dismisses viral video, blasts Adeleke over bad governance, re-election desperation”

The attention of the Dr Akin Ogunbiyi Campaign Organisation has been drawn to a manipulated video currently circulating on social media, in which our principal, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, was falsely portrayed as stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu doubted the capacity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to produce the next governor of Osun State, and consequently supported Governor Ademola Adeleke.

For the avoidance of doubt, this claim is entirely false. Dr. Ogunbiyi was quoted completely out of context, and the circulated 30-second video grossly misrepresents his thought process and intended message.

At the meeting with party leaders and stakeholders, Dr Ogunbiyi made a critical reference to the political horsetrading and development surrounding attempts by Governor Adeleke—who, by all indications, fears losing his re-election bid in the face of the reinvigorated efforts of the Osun APC—to gain entry into the APC through the backdoor.

Dr. Ogunbiyi explained how former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, alongside leaders of the Osun APC, led a delegation to President Tinubu to firmly assure him of the party’s strength and readiness to dislodge the incumbent administration. The Osun APC delegation not only demonstrated the party’s clear pathway to victory in the August 15 governorship election but also exposed how the Adeleke-led government has been undermining federal government initiatives and unfairly demonizing the President among the Osun electorate.

Following that presentation, Dr. Ogunbiyi stated that President Tinubu rejected attempts by certain elements to smuggle Governor Adeleke into the APC.

Since then, the President has continued to give his full support to the Osun APC, including ratifying the process that produced Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) as the party’s governorship candidate.

Furthermore, after a meeting between AMBO and President Tinubu—during which he presented a comprehensive and forward-looking economic blueprint for Osun State—the President expressed strong confidence in his candidacy and assured him of his full and unreserved support in the forthcoming election.

It is therefore not surprising that, having lost grip on governance and clearly seeing the signs of impending electoral defeat, Governor Adeleke and his associates have resorted to desperate propaganda—seeking to mislead unsuspecting voters by falsely invoking the name of President Tinubu.

One must ask: why is Governor Adeleke unable to campaign on the strength of his own achievements, if indeed he believes he deserves re-election?

The reality is that the Adeleke administration has little to show despite receiving close to ₦1 trillion in revenue over the past 40 months. In Osun State, access to quality education has become increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens. In state-owned universities, students are burdened with exorbitant fees—reportedly as high as ₦1.5 million in some cases. Similarly, food prices have soared due to the administration’s lack of seriousness towards agriculture and food security. While over ₦90 billion has been spent by Governor Adeleke for wining and dining within three years, only a miserable ₦7 billion has been committed to agriculture.

These and many more issues explain why the people of Osun State have rejected the current administration and are rallying behind the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), whom they see as a far more capable and prepared alternative.

Based on widespread public feedback and independent surveys, the people of Osun State have resolved to vote massively for APC and its candidate, AMBO, in the August 15 governorship election. No amount of falsehood, manipulation, or propaganda by the outgoing administration and its aides will change this resolve.
