Bright Olorungbotemi to Host Virtual Lecture on “The Migration of Nigerian Youths for Greener Pastures” on Sunday
The convener, Comrade Bright Olorungbotemi (One Class), has announced the 7th edition of DOWOB: Dive Out With Olorungbotemi, a virtual lecture aimed at addressing one of Nigeria’s most pressing issues: youth migration.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 7:30pm. It will be held virtually via Cyberspace and is open to youths, professionals, students, and stakeholders across Nigeria and the diaspora.
With the theme, “The Migration of Nigerian Youths for Greener Pastures”, the lecture will examine the driving forces behind the mass exodus of Nigerian youths, its impact on national development, and possible solutions to create opportunities at home.
The guest speaker, Bankole Akinselure (Banky), a Nigerian-German based professional, is expected to share insights, personal experiences, and practical guidance on navigating opportunities locally and abroad.
The event will also feature a giveaway session as part of efforts to empower participants and encourage active engagement.
Speaking ahead of the program, the host, Bright Olorungbotemi, said the initiative is borne out of the need to create a platform for honest conversations about migration, brain drain, empowerment, community service, and nation-building.
"The annual program is organized in commemoration of my birthday to give back to society. The first edition was held in July 2020 during the COVID era, and year in, year out, it has been productive," he stated.
"We cannot ignore the ‘Japa’ trend. This lecture is to help our youths make informed decisions, whether they choose to stay and build or seek opportunities abroad," he added.
Members of the public are invited to join what promises to be an insightful moment of dialogue, learning, and empowerment.
