Music Wasn't the Only Plan, Davido Reveals Alternative Career Path

Afrobeats superstar Davido, born David Adeleke, has disclosed that his future would still have been tied to the entertainment industry even if he had never achieved success as a recording artist.

Speaking during an interview with Kiss Xtra, the Grammy-nominated musician explained that his deep passion for the entertainment business would likely have pushed him toward establishing a record label or operating a media company if a career in music had not materialised.

He said he would probably have ended up as a label owner or running a media house, given how much he has always loved entertainment, adding that even if he were working in his father's office, he could still see himself running a side business, such as a music label, simply out of his love for music.

Davido also disclosed that he earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Business Management, noting that the qualification could have opened the door to a career in the corporate world.

He said with his degree, he could walk into a place like Barclays and try to get a job, insisting he genuinely could land one, noting that he has a résumé to back it up.

Davido first shot into the spotlight in 2012 following the release of "Dami Duro," the second single from his debut studio album, "Omo Baba Olowo," a project that established him as one of Nigeria's leading music stars.
