OOPA Pays Tribute to Late Matron, Celebrates Abokede’s Legacy of Philanthropy

The Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) received with profound sadness the news of the passing of our esteemed Matron, Mrs. Olufunmilola Aderonke Abokede, who departed this life on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Mrs. Abokede was a devoted Christian, a compassionate philanthropist and a woman whose life reflected service, generosity and commitment to the development of society.

She became the Matron of OOPA in 2024 and, since her appointment, she remained deeply committed to the growth and progress of the association. Through her moral, physical and financial support, she consistently contributed to the advancement of OOPA and encouraged its members to remain steadfast in their professional responsibilities.

In recognition of her remarkable contributions and service, Mrs. Abokede was honoured as a recipient of the OOPA Women of Valour Award in 2024, during the OOPA Osun Digital Media Week. The honour was a testament to her exceptional character, leadership, generosity and unwavering support for the association.

Until her death, Mrs. Abokede served as the General Manager of the Osun Agency for Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), where she made significant and valuable contributions to the development of communities across Osun State.

Through her work, she touched many lives and contributed meaningfully to initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and development of communities. Her dedication to public service, philanthropy and human development will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

Her death has undoubtedly created a deep and painful vacuum within OOPA, the public service community and among the many individuals whose lives she touched. Her warmth, generosity, wisdom and unwavering commitment to the association will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Abokede's passing is not only a loss to her immediate family but also to OOPA, the Osun media community and the people of Osun State. While we mourn her departure, we take solace in the remarkable legacy of service and compassion she leaves behind.

On behalf of the Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA), we extend our deepest condolences to her immediate family, relatives, friends, colleagues and all those who mourn this great loss.

We pray that Almighty God will grant her eternal rest and give the family she left behind the courage, comfort and strength to bear this irreparable loss.

May God comfort everyone who mourns her and grant us all the fortitude to preserve and continue the values of service, compassion and humanity for which she was known.

Mrs. Olufunmilola Aderonke Abokede, may your gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
