Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has thrown his support behind Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, insisting that the England international deserves to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
According to Robinson, although the competition for football’s most prestigious individual award is intense, no other contender can match Kane’s impressive statistical achievements.
Kane earned a place on the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist following an outstanding campaign in which he scored 73 goals in 65 appearances for both club and country last season.
In addition to his remarkable goalscoring record, the Bayern Munich forward helped his side secure the Bundesliga title and also claimed the European Golden Shoe in recognition of his exceptional performances in front of goal.
However, Kane is expected to face stiff competition for the award from Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, both of whom are among the leading contenders for football’s highest individual honour.
Robinson shared his opinion during an online interview, where he discussed Kane’s chances of emerging as the eventual winner of the prestigious award.
The former England international maintained that overlooking Kane for the Ballon d’Or would be a major error, given his outstanding numbers and achievements throughout the season.
