This beautiful pictures show an Ethiopian tribe who drowned their handicapped babies because they thought they were cursed.

The pictures portray the Karo tribe coated in multi-patterned war paint made of ash and animal fat from head to toe.

Many striking photos depict young people holding rifles, which European visitors have brought them over the past 50 years.

The rifles were passed down generations like heirlooms in the family and are used to scare off enemies.

The Karo tribe is the smallest in Ethiopia with population ranging from 1,000 to 2,000.

American Jim Zuckerman, 72, had taken the images in the Omo River Valley.

He said: "They live along the Omo River and practice the production of' flood retreat.''
