Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's manager, has stated that his players have earned the right to compete for a Champions League position ahead of their match against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Gunners know that a win in the North London Derby on Thursday will guarantee their return to Europe's top club competition.
With a tense 2-1 win against Leeds on Sunday, Arteta's men have established a four-point lead over Spurs in fourth place.
Arsenal is about to end a five-year wait for top-flight European football.
"We'll go into that encounter with the same enthusiasm as always, but with the understanding that this may be a pivotal match."
It may provide an additional layer of motivation for us to go for it. "We have earned the right to play that game in that atmosphere," says the player. "We started the season with nine or ten guys out and played two of Europe's finest clubs," Arteta explained.
