The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Chapter on Friday, October 28, 2022 inducted Olowu of Kuta, HRH Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama into the NUJ Hall of Fame.
The induction and dinner which marks the end of the activities to mark the 2022 NUJ press week took place at the Ultra Modern Palace Hall within the Palace of Owu Kuta.
The NUJ Chairman, Osun State Chapter, Mr. Wasiu Akadosu in his remark said that the induction into the NUJ Hall of Fame is accorded to nationalists, prominent traditional rulers, and captains of industry who have contributed immensely to the development and economic well-being of Nigeria while giving accounts leading to the NUJ Hall of Fame Award on Kabiyesi Olowu Kuta, HRH Oba Oyelude Makama.
He identified Kabiyesi as a remarkable monarch whose sole focus in life is to empower people and constantly look out for the welfare of the people.
Oba Makama showed the capacity to contribute to the society from which he draws satisfaction from human and economic advancement. Kabiyesi is humanitarian per excellence; he is constantly supportive of initiatives that improve the lives of others and is enthusiastic about both human and material development.
Kabiyesi always ensures that development takes place in the community, adding that he is media friendly. “If you look at Kuta of yesterday and today, it was developed by Olowu of Kuta, so somebody like this needs to be recognized. The NUJ Hall of Fame is not just a simple thing you can get, the hall is meant for selected people that have contributed significantly to the development of their community, that have impacted the lives of others and Olowu of Kuta fits into this class and that is why we are honoring him.” He added.
Kabiyesi while accepting the award said he highly appreciates the NUJ for recognizing him with the highest award, and he promised that he will not let the media down.
He recounts his relationship with the media which comprises the Electronic, Print, Broadcast, and Online Media in Osun, and promise a more robust relationship.
