Kena, an Akpehe village resident, Makurdi, is charged with guilty homicide, punishable under section 222 of the Benue Penal Code Act , 2004.
The Prosecutor earlier, Insp. Veronica Shaagee, told the court that one of Logo 1's Ayughtse Aondona, Makurdi reported the matter on 7 June at the Police Station 'E' Division.
He claimed the complainant had confirmed Kena was murdering his 18-year-old daughter in Makurdi, reports NAN.
The prosecution alleged that the deceased was poisoned by Kena, and she became unconscious. Shaagee claimed the 18-year-old girl died later in Saint Theresa Hospital, Makurdi.
The prosecution said the inquiry into the matter was still ongoing and prayed for an adjournment.
The judge, Mrs. Rose Iyorshe, did not take the plea of Kena because her court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the matter.
Iyorshe, therefore, adjourned the matter until Aug 7 for further mention and ordered that the businessman be remanded in a Nigerian Correctional Service centre.
